London, May 2012 – Award-winning VFX Supervisor Barney Curnow has been recruited by Prime Focus Broadcast VFX, along with several other respected artists, as the division ramps up for work on several major projects currently in production. Joining Barney will be Motion Graphics Director Hazel Baird, Head of 3D Nuno Pereira, Technical Director Denis-Jose Francois and Senior Production Coordinator Turea Blyth.
With more than 14 years of industry experience, the last six and half of which were at The Mill as VFX Supervisor, Barney has supervised many flagship television projects from concept to completion including Doctor Who, Torchwood and Merlin, on which he won the BAFTA for Outstanding Visual Effects. Barney has also worked at MPC, Atlantic Productions and PRPVFX, having started out as a freelance photographer. He has extensive experience of on-set supervision, project bidding and creative direction.
Hazel Baird joins as Motion Graphics Director, and Nuno Pereira, formerly Fx TD at MPC, has been brought in as Head of 3D. Denis-Jose Francois joins from Jellyfish Pictures, as Technical Director and Turea Blyth has moved from Cinesite to assume the role of Senior Production Coordinator.
Prime Focus Broadcast VFX London will also be working closely with the new VFX team at the newly launched Prime Focus New York full service post production facility. The West Village facility will provide a gateway for clients located on the East Coast to access the dedicated Broadcast VFX team in London.
