Mumbai. June 2012 - Prime Focus has supplied a range of state-of-the-art camera equipment for PVR Pictures' latest political thriller movie 'Shanghai', starring Emraan Hashmi, Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin, Prosenjit Chatterjee. The story is based on Vassilis Vassilikos' novel 'Z'.
Directed by Dibakar Banerjee, 'Shanghai' is based in a bustling Indian city gearing up for political elections, where four individuals find themselves tied up in a gruesome game of crime and politics. A young activist (Prosenjit Chatterjee) encounters a shocking and disturbing road accident which leaves a prominent political figure in a critical condition. A lone girl (Kalki Koechlin) on the street believes it to be a murder. A porn film maker (Emraan Hashmi) claims to have documented proof that will bring the government down. A high ranking bureaucrat (Abhay Deol) is brought in by the government for damage control. As days go by, the individuals discover a hidden secret within the government: a vision of a new metropolis, a pipe dream, a dream called "Shanghai".
A wide range of equipment which included an Arri Alexa camera, 16mm, 25mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm and 100mm Master Prime Lenses, Angenieux 24-290 Optimo Zoom was supplied for use on 'Shanghai' by Prime Focus' EQR division in Mumbai.
